The winter men’s basketball league consists of two divisions: Open and Masters (over 40). Members put together their own teams and may invite non-members to play with them. For more information, contact the recreation office at 425.688.3102.

| 1. | In the Fall there will be one division including both Open and Masters players and the Winter Member/Guest League will consist of two divisions, Masters (40 and older playing 4 on 4) and Open (playing 5 on 5). All games will be played Wednesday or Thursday evenings either at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.or 8:00 p.m. Each game will start on time or after a 5-minute warm up/grace period. |
| 2. | The regular season will be followed by a post-season single elimination championship playoff, to be outlined by the season’s end. Teams who forfeit more than two games during the regular season may be excluded from post-season tournament play. The Recreation Director and the Athletic Director will decide whether or not to include the team in the post-season. Rosters are final after the second week of the season. |
| 3. | NCAA Men’s Basketball rules shall be used by officials unless otherwise provided herein. Game officials will be provided with the summaries of BC rules, which differ from college rules. The league rules with regard to player discipline will be as follows: |
| (a) | Officials |
| (b) | Technical Fouls |
| 4. | Each player shall be permitted five personal fouls per game; technical fouls do count as personal fouls. If a player receives a sixth foul and there is not a sub available, he may continue to play and be allowed two more fouls, however, each foul by this player will result in two points to the opposing team and the ball out of bounds. Shoot one and one on the seventh team foul of each half, and shoot two for 10-team fouls. |
| 5. | A forfeit will occur if a team does not have at least three (4 on 4) or four (5 on 5) players from their roster ready to play within 5 minutes of the scheduled game time. If the forth/fifth player is not prepared to play within the first 10 minutes of running time on the game clock, a forfeit will be declared. Since it is our intent to play and have as many games count as possible, during the regular season teams may use to sub any BC member with the approval of both captains. With such approval, the games will count in league standings. The referees will officiate any game where there are two full teams ready to play, regardless of whether or not the game is a forfeit. BOTH consenting captains must inform the scorekeeper before the game begins if the game is to count in the league standings. |
| 6. | All games shall consist of two 20-minute halves. The clock shall be a free running with the exception of shooting fouls, time-outs or at such other times as the referees or scorekeeper may designate. During the last two minutes of each half, the clock shall be stopped on all fouls, jump balls, violations, time-outs and such other times as the officials shall designate, except when the point differential is greater than 15 points. When a point differential is greater than 15 points, there shall be a running clock until the conclusion of the game of the game or if the gap closes to less than 15 points. In the event of a tied game, three-minute overtime periods shall be played until a winner is determined. The clock in such overtime shall be operated under the regarding “stop clock” operation. |
| 7. | The three-point play rule is in effect and awards three points for all shots made from positions outside the three-point line. For a successful three-point field goal, the shooter must be beyond the three-point line when he attempts the shot. After release of the ball, he may land on the line or in the two-point area. The official shall notify the scorekeeper to award three points in each such case. |
| 8. | Each team shall have five one minute time-outs per game, but may take no more than three per half. If the game goes into overtime, each team shall receive one additional time-out. Half time will last for three minutes and there will be a one-minute period between overtime periods. |
| 9. | All protests shall be filed within 24 hours in written form signed by the team captain. |
