Pilates
Pilates is a system of movement and exercise created and developed in the early 1900s by German-born athlete and physical therapy pioneer, Joseph Pilates. Using specially designed equipment, the Pilates Method™ dramatically improves strength, flexibility, coordination and posture. The Pilates Method™ shapes bodies. It slims the muscles and makes them more compact, developing sleekness rather than bulk.

JENNIFER SALTZMAN
Jennifer Saltzman has been
teaching the Pilates Method of body conditioning since 1995. She was trained by Master Teacher Romana Kryzanowska in Authentic Pilates™. Jennifer ran her own Pilates studio in Seattle for six years before coming to teach at the Bellevue Club. Jennifer brings to her teaching a strong dance background as well as many years
of experience in various body-centered therapies. She is also certified as a nutritional consultant in Metabolic Typing, and has a strong background in the study of diet and nutrition. She loves to dance and choreograph and has produced and directed several dance concerts, the most recent in September 2002, titled “A Tribute to Israel: an evening of live music and dance.”
ELIZABETH WEISMAN
Elizabeth Weisman became interested in Pilates after debilitating ankle and knee injuries lowered her quality of life. Amazed by the dramatic positive result Pilates had in rehabilitating her injuries, she decided to take her primary focus off of her academics for a while to focus on becoming stronger in her body. She spent a full year exploring Joseph Pilates’ method in her apprenticeship. She began to create a core of strength, getting more toned and defined after each session. Elizabeth has been certified in True Pilates™ since January 2003.
COURTNEY CHRISTINE
Courtney Christine has been teaching Authentic Pilates™ since she was certified in May 2003. She has studied many different disciplines of dance for more than 20 years, including dancing professionally with
a modern dance company for six years. Courtney’s interest in the study of movement introduced her
to Pilates in 2000. The overwhelming physical
and mental benefits gained from practicing Pilates encouraged Courntey to pursue a year-long apprenticeship program in Seattle and to obtain teacher certification.
